Race Details:
This is the inaugural race for the Joey Fabus Childhood Cancer Foundation. The purpose of the race is to raise awareness about DIPG and funding for research. Joey Fabus was an 8 year old boy when he was diagnosed with DIPG (diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma), an inoperable brain tumor, in May 2014. The current survival rate for those diagnosed with DIPG is 0%. Most children afflicted with this disease die within 9-12 months of diagnosis. On January 21, 2015 surrounded by his loving family, Joey died from DIPG. Current treatment options are unsuccessful and outdated. More research and funding are desperately needed. Joey loved super heroes, especially Captain America, and to all that knew him he was the real superhero. Please join the foundation for this special event and register now for the Superhero Run Over DIPG. We encourage you to show your support on race day by wearing a superhero shirt (costume or accessory) for Joey and all of the kids that are currently suffering, or have passed, from DIPG.
